E così siamo in due. Eravamo in due anche nei primi tempi, quando Elena e io giravamo per le fantastiche strade delle regioni più belle d'Italia, ma quei giorni sono ormai sfumati; il lavoro, i doveri e una figlia appena nata hanno preteso il loro tributo e io sono diventato un motociclista solitario. Per tanto tempo Elena non si è sentita abbastanza sicura seduta al posto dell'Orso Blubber e piano piano ha smesso di seguirmi, favorendo la trasformazione dei giri di piacere in trasferimenti per ragioni utilitarie. Ora che Olivia ha nove anni era tempo di lasciarla venire con me. Abbiamo iniziato un paio di mesi fa, con la sorpresa del suo nuovo casco in un bel turchese scuro e lei si è abituata davvero presto a queste due ruote. Del resto è troppo fico essere portati alle elementari su una Vespa rumorosa e ganza come l'Insetto Scoppiettante e a dire il vero dopo neanche un paio di giri ha stabilito subito la sua comfort zone sul sedile di Blubber. E ora mi chiedo: quanto ci vorrà perché sia abbastanza cresciuta da chiedere una moto tutta per sé?

So we're two. We used to be two in my early Vespa days when Elena and I roamed through the gorgeous roads among the most beautiful regions of Italy, but those days are long gone; jobs, duties and a newborn daughter demanded their tribute, so I became a lone rider. For a long time Elena didn't feel safe enough at her Blubber Bear seat and she gradually stopped following me, favoring the transformation of pleasure rides in utility commutes. Now that Olivia is nine years old it was time to let her ride with me. We started a couple of months ago, with the surprise of her own helmet in a beautiful teal shade and she accustomed very quickly to these two wheels. After all it's way too cool to be brought to primary school on a rowdy rad Vespa like the Chuggabug and to be honest it took just a ride or two to set her comfort zone on Blubber's seat. Now I wonder: how long will it take till she's sufficiently grown up to demand for her own bike?
