Grip

Non potevo rimandare ancora. La mia gomma posteriore era liscia come le gomme da pista ed ero diventato un pericolo per me stesso e per gli altri; ecco perché l'ho sostituita. Ho sempre scelto le Michelin Pilot City perché sono sempre stato soddisfatto dalle loro prestazioni finché ho girato in climi relativamente asciutti; da quando mi sono trasferito ho dovuto fare i conti con un nuovo contesto: il bagnato. La Versilia è un posto umido; in inverno le strade al mattino sono molto bagnate anche se non ha piovuto affatto durante la notte. Inoltre piove spesso anche d'estate, proprio dopo pranzo, a causa delle montagne vicine che bloccano le nuvole e lasciano che l'umidità si addensi fino a quando è troppa per non bagnarci tutti con un bel rovescio. Così ho optato per le Michelin City Grip, che hanno un battistrada molto migliore specialmente sull'asfalto umido e ora, dopo più di 150 chilometri, sono contento di aver fatto la scelta giusta. Le gomme tengono saldamente la strada e posso piegare in sicurezza senza quella fastidiosa sensazione di strada scivolosa ad ogni curva. Mi sposto molto ultimamente, quindi mi ci sono voluti solo tre giorni perché l'asfalto asportasse ogni particella di cera al silicone dalle gomme nuove; anche un po' di strade sterrate e qualche interessante deviazione dal mio tragitto consueto su percorsi ricchi di curve hanno aiutato molto. Ora le temperature sono scese, quasi dieci gradi in meno in un paio di giorni e sembra che l'inverno sia finalmente arrivato. Io sono pronto.

I couldn't put off once again. My back tire was slick just like track tires and I was dangerous to myself and the others; that's why I had to replace my rear tire. Michelin Pilot City had always been my choice and I was happy with it as I used to ride in a relatively dry climate; since I moved - and excluding a few years during which I didn't ride too much - I had to face a new context: wet. Versilia is a wet place; during winter the roads are pretty wet in the morning even if it didn't rain at all at night. Moreover, it often rains in summer too, right after lunch, because of the nearby mountains which stop the clouds and let the humidity gather till it's too dense not to bless us all with a shower. So I opted for Michelin City Grip, which have a much better tread especially on wet tarmac and now, after more than 150 kilometres, I'm happy I was right. They firmly hug the road and I can safely lean without that uncanny feeling of slippery ride at every turn. Lately I'm a heavy commuter, so it took just three days to let the tarmac remove every particle of silicone wax from the new tires; a little bit of gravel roads and some interesting curvy detours from my usual route helped much. Now the temperatures have gone low, nearly ten degrees in a couple of days and it seems that winter is finally in. I'm ready.
